Classic Touring Car Racing Club sprint at Goodwood next Saturday 15th May :!: Any one else entered apart from Matt Carter and me :?:
At least they'll be another Stylus entering with me this time which is pretty rare as they're so few on the ground and so far spread around. Another 2lt zetec engined Stylus on TB's but yellow and two drivers -- Kevin Padley and wife Liz :P

'No name' is a little bumpy so not flat.....oh you mean flat to the floor with the throttle. I wish! That corner scares the bejesus out of me. That and Madgewick are where I need to go faster, as well as Woodcote of course.

Looking forward to Sat, on 1A's for this event so seeing if I can do a 1A PB and scrape in under 100secs. Hopefully I'll have the new suspension in and sorted so that should help.

On the stylus front Kevin and his wife have competed at a couple of events (Gurston and Wiscombe), doesn't look like they're putting out huge horsepower.

They have TB's on their 2lt Zetec and I got 200bhp from my 45's on 40 chokes with standard internals. I've discussed spring rates/set-up with Kevin but he hasn't gone my route , although he has fitted one of my front ARB 's  They are both serious trackday ' bikers ' so don't lack b --- lls  or he doesn't at least

Great day for me , got a 1st in class 2.4 sec's quicker than my April event there. Going through no name in 5th helped  Been plucking up the courage to try that for years -- felt a bit scary but it was worth it :P Matt did a similar feat :D but my friends in the other Stylus had a poor day , blowing up their engine later in the day

I missed the prize giving it was all over buy the time we had packed up the radio's and other bits.
Would have been nice to see a few more entries, but maybe next year!
How did you finish Matt?

I had two feats(?) on the the day.

Got a 98.26 in first timed run which beat my previous PB set 3 weeks ago of 98.38....but I was on 1A tyres this time not 1B's! I was really chuffed to beat that time on 1A's! My previous best on 1A's was 101.26 so 3 secs quicker. Going faster through all corners helped particularly Madgwick, no-name, and St Mary's.

Second feat was a trip to the infield at St Mary's. Corner entry oversteer then trip on the grass and rough gravel (covered by crops?). Didn't know what caused it at the time but video replay says it was letting the clutch out too late for corner entry.....should have just gone through the corner faster in the 5th :-) (Easier said than done).

All in all a great day out!

Ah, when that was called in as I wrote the number down, something rung a bell but I forgot to look as to why, don't need to check my notes now.
That must have been a quick off as they were race marshals on that post and it took them by surprise, don't think the expected you to carry on.
Their last message was: 'Oh it's OK he's kept going'!!
And the bits you left for them are in a very used condition, so you can't buy them back from EBay!! :D
