3rd May Sprint

Post by alanw » Fri Mar 27, 2015 11:21 pm

My daughter and I are planning to make this event our first Sprint.

As time is tight - my daughter's A levels are coming up, we'd like to ensure that we obtain entries. When will regs be published? I'm happy to pay for our entries right now if possible.

Thanks for any assistance.

Humm, read the regs and my supercharged MX5 doesn't fit road going. For modified production do I need a welded in cage and harnesses etc? I have a roll over bar int he car but it's only a bolt in one.

It will need an msa certified full cage for mod prod.

Why won't the mx5 fit in one of the other classes?

I hope not, I paid my entry fee last night!

Event Regs say:
Category C. Modified Limited Production Cars & Modified Specialist
Production Cars.
Cars must comply with regulations S. 12.1 to 12.9.2

Blue book S. 12.1 to 12.9.2 says sports cars need to conform to 1.6.1:

1.6.1. Series Production, Touring and Sports Cars.
(a) Production cars, Touring Cars, Sports cars up to 2,000cc – Basic rollbar/rollcage complying with K1 or K2.

so I've ordered a TR Lane roll bar that meets the regs.

The car is supercharged with a MK2 6 speed box, coilovers, uprated ARBS, blah blah blah. No chance in Standard road going.

sounds good to me, if you are in the wrong class no worry they will just move to to the correct one. You will still get to run and have some fun.

I cannot wait, it will be my first time there as well.

I'm an idiot. I've re-read the regs and only class 1 and 2 are standard cars. My car complies for class 5 so no need for a roll bar at all. What a dumb ass! I'll have to get someone to change my registration details.

Another thing, what's the deal with Spectators and/or assistance? I assume it's OK but only viewing area being the paddock area?

That's what I was thinking! Great news on fitting in the class. Depending on who enters you may find you have a better chance in the mod prod classes.

Yes, viewing mainly from the paddock, but you can walk up behind the roped off area in the tree line. Not done it myself, so no sure how much you can see from there.

 Thinking of Eelmoor, but this one is Rushmoor. Viewing here is very good as the course is in a natural bowl, you can see just about all of it from the top of the hill, paddock area.

Entries are filling up nicely.
We have 50 so far, remember the maximum is 80 so if you are thinking of entering don't leave it too late.

Come along on the day before, to help set up, walk and see all of the course and chat with some others that have entered the event before.
Venue knowledge can make a difference to performance on the day.
