Gwyn Jones Memorial 12 Car Rally - 5th December 2014

Post by Mike East » Wed Aug 20, 2014 5:01 pm

I am pleased to announce the fourth running of the Gwyn Jones Memorial Rally on Friday the 5th December 2013. We will run the event over 100 miles of Hampshire's finest lanes, sticking to our popular format of simple navigation and lots of controls. Due to the extra mileage, we will be finishing an hour later. We need to get an idea of the number of marshals that are prepared to come out for the extra hour. We will finish at the Hen and Chicken Pub and lay on some food again. The route is designed to allow most marshals the chance to marshal two controls. In previous years we have manned over 21 controls. With your support, we can put on another great event that will test both crew members.

Please let me know if you intend to compete on the longer format or would volunteer to marshal a little bit later. Its down to the competitors and marshals to determine if this extended event works.

Is this a good event for novices?

Regs now available. Past competitors and marshals should already have a copy emailed to them.

We have reduced the mileage to 60 miles this year due to the busy work schedule of Roger and myself

I'm looking for a a volunteer to drive the route 1hr before the first car to hang out the code boards. The stake will already be in the correct location, you just need to get out of the car and hang up code board, making note of which one you put out. We should be able to find you an experienced navigator to accompany you. It will be a bit of fun and would be a great insight into the world of 12 cars if you haven't done one before.

Thanks

Mike

Hi

Had a couple of marshals drop out. Please help your club and lend a hand. Free pint and a sandwich at the end.

Thanks

Mike
