Gwyn Jones Memorial Rally - Friday 2nd Dec 2016

Post by Scoobydo » Tue Oct 25, 2016 8:16 pm

I am pleased to announce the 6th running of the Gwyn Jones Memorial Rally which this year starts at a public car park in the Alice Holt forest complex and finishes, as usual, at the welcoming Hen & Chicken Public House in Upper Froyle.

The route of some 95 miles uses our favourite lanes in North Hampshire on OS maps 185 & 186.

There will be navigation for Experts and Novices with marked maps for beginners although the beginners will not be eligible for an award.

The Regs have been published and will be emailed out to all the regulars and will also be posted on the Forum and 12 Car Capers to download.

As ever, marshals are required to service all the controls with a free drink for each at the pub. As is the custom a buffet will be provided for everyone at the finish.

Finally a BIG thanks to Mike East and Roger Davidson who have organised the GJMR for the past five years and making it a ‘must do’ event on the local calendar. No pressure then!!!!!

Any questions, I can be contacted on 07721 754168 or gskeggs49 at gmail.com.

Congratulations to John Taylor and Mark Collings (Southsea) for another win on this year’s GJMR. It was a close thing though, as Colin Woodhouse and Chris Moore (Basingstoke) were leading going in to the last Time Control but decided to search for a code board that unfortunately wasn’t there. The top four crews after 95 miles, 13 Time Controls, 6 Secret Controls were separated by only 6 minutes.
Thanks go to the fantastic turnout of 31 marshals who made the event possible.
1 - John Taylor & Mark Collings 17 mins
2 – Chris Pratt & Glyn Haywood 19 mins
3 - Colin Woodhouse & Chris Moore 22 mins
4 – Eddie Gale & Rhys Williams 23 mins
5 – Ian Donaldson & Peter Rushforth 54 mins
6 – Derek Looker & Oliver Wyatt 55 mins
7 – John Nicholls & Simon Taylor 62 mins (furthest cleanest)
8 – Peter Harding & Steve Barber 62 mins
9 – Jace Shawley & Paul Vaughan 70 mins
10 – Barry Shurman & Nick Revels 188 mins
11 – David Roper & Simon Fuidge 242 mins
12- Glenn Tuffnell & Martin Street Retired

Next event to be organised by yours truly will be the March Hare 2017 which will be on 17th March. Please make a note in your diary NOW.
