Most certainly not
With 7 entries last year on the so called technology of the future it was decided by the commitee at the time to change it back to a CLUBNIGHT where all members have the opportunity to participate be it as and entrant or come to the clubnight to vote, have a beer and socialise.
When this was changed to a web competition last year only 22 votes were made and we lost an event at a clubnight while we were at it. this competition just for fun would normally attract a good showing at the clubrooms and in the region of 20+ photos to choose from and in the past some proffesional ones on show also.
So you must have plenty of action shots from photos taken throughout 2010 so why dont you come to the clubnight and put them on display.

What about the members from further away, that are unlikely to be able to make it to the club night?

Though I like the idea of having it on a club night, it does seem that it will cut out a few of our members that have further to come (not me  ).

I understand the argument either way - either way there are going to be people that are cut out of the competition, and there are going to be people that aren't going to like it. Can't please everyone all the time...

How about this for an idea.

Anybody who lives a distance from the Old Courthouse, who wishes to enter the Swain Trophy this year, prints off their picture and then sends it to Brian in the post along with their details. Brian then displays it as an entry on the night. That way then everybody has an equal chance to enter. We may then have even more entries for the people attending on the night to judge. It has happened before and was quite successful.

If you wish to do this then contact Brian directly, and he will supply his address details to you. Simples!

Didnt even realise the photo comp we had online last year was for anything but fun!
I dont recal it being mentioned it was an 'official, trophy award' any where in the thread!
