Classes for 2017?

Post by cartledge_uk » Tue Nov 15, 2016 7:31 am

Just a quick question regarding the fdmc class structure for solos.

Is the plan to keep the current solo classes indefinitely? Or is there a plan to change to align with other clubs and the new sprint class capacities?

Seems class 3 is now up to 1600 instead of 1400. I'm not sure what else.

In sprints, class1 and 3 are upto 1600, class4 is 1600-2200.

But in solos everyone appears to have a slightly different take on class

Answering the OP, for April, we have aligned the class splits with the ACSMC (and ASWMC & BTRDA, I believe) Championship classes. Personally, I'm not sure this works well for us, and we may change it later in the year. One member has suggested that Class B should split at 1200cc, to encourage youngsters with smaller (cheaper) cars to enter. If we do this, maybe Class C should be 1200 to 1600, 1700 or 1800? Any thoughts from members?
We could also drop Class A (due to lack of entries these days, and get the Mighty Sprite into Class F, where it rightfully belongs...) and maybe intruduce a capacity split into Class E at perhaps 1600, (NA). What do you think about that?
