 Because VOLUNTEER organisers are thin on the ground and need a holiday - Middx county usually has something in august.

Steve Woodings said he'd be game for organising a solo...
I will take this opportunity to Volunteer his services to hold one in August if you like?

I'll speak to him now...! I'd be likely to be on hand to help too if we were offered some guidence along the way?

It'd be a shame to not have one that during August.

Note that the date and venue have changed - the solo is now at Finmere on 26th April.

The regs are on the Oxford MC web site. What sort of assistance do you need, but I'm very aware that you probably don't know what you don't know!

Car - make sure everything works, especially brakes and steering, nothing loose in the car to fly around. If you're in a standard car then should be easy.

Entry, if you have a comp licence then the National B event is an option, or do the Clubman event, you'll probably have to join Oxford MC, I don't know ho the invited clubs are.

All in all, Autosolos are fairly straightforward, any specific questions then just ask.

I'll be there in the blue green Humphtis of Oxford Micra, come and say hi.

As Alan says just make sure your car is totally road legal.

Best thing to do is describe your car and we will help out there. Have you got spare wheels for your car? Some solos can be very wearing on tyres.

Other than the car you don't need much else in the way of preparation.

Hi, thanks there's an email address on the regs, I'll ask them too.

The car is a BMW E36 M3, I do trackdays in it, it's not srtipped/caged or anything just coilovers, brakes, bucket seats etc. I dont have spare wheels any more, was thinking about having some R888s mounted on some at some point but I see they're not allowed for this event, is that normal?

I've not got a competition licence, would that help and does it require an ARDS test?

Do I need timing equipment, numbers or anything special for the car?

Thanks again, sorry for all the questions :)

You don't need any special equipment. No timing gear or anything. You will be supplied numbers on the day. It is better if your car isn't stripped as it means you will be in class D and not the specials class.

It is normal for these events to have standard road tyres, not the semi-slick kind: R888, A045, AD08, D01J etc. There is a comprehensive list on the MSA's website.

If you do sign up for the 26th, make sure you come over to us and we'll give you the low down dude.

You can find me flapping about a Blue MX5 with Skuzzle written up the side of the car, quite noticeable...... then again, im a 6'2 tall and wide (mostly around the belly area...) chap who tends to wear a Lewis hamilton cap backwards so equally as findable

We'll welcome you into the sport with open arms... well steve woodings might try to hug you but i'll leave that one there...!

If you are SUPER keen, there is an event at North Weald on the 12th April and i believe there are still spaces left. Here's the link -

The mighty FDMC are an invited club too so youre free to enter.

If the Finmere venue is the same as used to be used by Mazda on Track the surface is as abrasive as hell.
Just be sure you have enough tread depth to see you through the day and back home.
Cheers, Pewe.

Are you sure it's free for FDMC members? The Event facts say £32
