2016 September Solo

Post by BillMex » Sun Jul 31, 2016 11:03 pm

Entries have started to arrive for the 2016 September Solo which will be held at Buller Barracks again this year.

If you haven't seen the website event page yet take a look at: http://www.farnboroughdmc.org.uk/septsolo2016.php.

The event area has changed a little since 2015 so Steve has a challenge on his hands in creating fresh tests but we'll both be doing all we can to ensure another excellent September Solo.

Looking forward to seeing you all there on Sunday 18 September.

Many thanks to everyone who has already entered the September Solo. With over a month to go we have 22 entries, 19 confirmed and 3 provisional. The minimum entry for the event was just 20 with a maximum of 51. So, if you're planning to enter or are still provisional I'd encourage early entry and payment to avoid disappointment!

Look forward to seeing everyone on 18 September - all signs point to a great event. :D

The FDMC September Solo entry list is 80% full. We're just a few days shy of 4 weeks from the event and there are now 40 confirmed and paid entries. So, if you're hoping to enter please do so soon to avoid disappointment, the maximum entry is limited to 51.

Fortunately, all on-line entries are timed so there can be no argument over who entered before the list closes. However, postal entries must be timed as received as we've no idea when the entry may have been posted.

This is particularly critical now as I'll not be able to update the entry list or issue entry and payment confirmations until next Tuesday - 30 August - due to work commitments through to Thursday followed by MANDATORY travel to and from and attendance at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Apologies to anyone that has to wait for confirmation but please don't delay getting those entries in.

See you at Buller Barracks on Sunday 18 September for the final FDMC Solo this year.

Hello all, part 1 of the Finals for Sunday’s FDMC AutoSolo has now been emailed to all entrants and reserves.

If you're planning to come along, we will be using the original entrance to the venue on Alisons Road. Castrol arrows will be out just in case you forget.

I have until now overlooked one critical issue – we do not presently have an official photographer.

Andy Deely is kindly contacting the camera club to try and arrange a photographer at very short notice, but, just in case it doesn’t happen, I have asked everyone to bring along their cameras and/or smart phones to take photos DURING THEIR DOWN TIME, that is, when they are neither competing nor marshalling. If everyone then sends their photos to me after the event (or simply gives me access to their Dropbox or whatever other photo cloud they may use) I’ll see that they are available to everyone who competes. Unless, of course, you might like to come along to take photos?????? :-)

Please check with anyone you know who will be competing that they have received this email just in case some are diverted to junk or SPAM mail.

The entry list has now been sorted by class order which has resulted in one or two changes to the earlier published details. Where appropriate, the changed item is highlighted on the entry list. If you're competing, please check your entry again and let me know if anything is suspect or wrong. The list can be accessed from the FDMC web page for the event which is at: http://www.farnboroughdmc.org.uk/septsolo2016.php.

Finals part 2 will be issued at sign-on.

Finally, you will see from the entry list that we have 5 reserves and I am aware of one entrant who may need to withdraw. If you're on the entry list and you expect to need to withdraw please let me know so that one of the reserves can step up to take your place. Similarly, if unplanned circumstances are likely to prevent any entrant from turning up on the day, I'd really appreciate a call or email to met me know as early as possible so that someone else can enjoy the event.

Finally, finally, there are always more jobs than bods at Solos so please persuade friends, family and any other willing persons to come along and volunteer to help on the day.

I look forward to seeing everyone at Buller Barracks on Sunday.

Many thanks to everyone for turning up last Sunday. Steve and I hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did. All we need now is someone to voluntarily produce an article for the FDMC mag. Would YOU be prepared to do so?

The results can be downloaded from https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwvGR ... 2dxSnYtSE0 in Excel and https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwvGR ... 2dxSnYtSE0 in pdf formats.

Photos and videos of the event have started to appear in different places.

The 2 AutoSolo FB groups at https://www.facebook.com/groups/247891958748838/ and https://www.facebook.com/groups/131051403586547/ include posts by Adam and David Garside respectively. If you struggle to find the relevant posts they each link to Adam’s Flickr album of the event at https://www.flickr.com/photos/25836294@ ... 2972738682. Geoff Wade's photos are on the FDMC club page https://www.facebook.com/FDMotorClub/ and a link back to there appears on the FDMC group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/FarnboroughDMC/.

Paul Prescott's video showing each of the 4 courses through his Mini windscreen appears on both FDMC pages as well as https://www.facebook.com/groups/247891958748838/ where Steve Woodings and David Garside have also posted videos - David's is in 4D if your graphics card or adaptor can handle it.

Thanks again to everyone who was there.
