Friendly MoT place

Post by kartaphilos » Tue Jul 08, 2008 8:36 pm

What's a good place to take a modified car for an MoT? One that won't be too picky over little issues and try and pass it rather than fail. I have a slight concern over emissions (although cat is in the exhaust)

Speak to ASM, they did the CRX last year. They have a friendly MOTer they use.

I used one in Slough for the Elise, in a pretty rough area but the testers there are race car friendly. Might be a bit far for you though

If you scrape what's left of the ginger tom off the exhaust, you may be ok.

I used Ravenscroft in Fleet this year, because Thomas Day were a complete nightmare.
My emissions were very high and the guy allowed me to adjust them in the bay myself to meet his requirement. of course what you do afterwards is your choice.
They failed my daily driver, but for good reason, very fair.

Hi

Ive just had my TR4 Mot'd at the Hartley Wintney Garage along the A30 (little industrial estate called Winkworth Business Park on the left as you go to Basingstoke from HW, beyond the Texaco garage and the Phoenix pub - next to The Phirm who do Golfs etc.). 01252 845033.

Aubrey (I think) did the test on my rally car and he knew his onions, and also what the score was on things like the brake test where the machine is too sensitive for anything classic. Also had a good attitude to modified cars, which is good to see and let me have a good poke about and see what he was seeing when it was on the ramp.

Can't recommend them highly enough. £35 quid felt like it was worth spending.

Regards

Tony

passed the idle test and failed the fast idle test......only got 9 days to sort it now; any ideas folks please.

I've had the CRX MOT'd at TJ Services for the last few years and they are very fair. They failed the car on things that were actually dangerous. I wouldn't hessitate to use them again.

ASM are very helpful for fixing cars too, shame I can't find someone to fix all the bodywork at a price I can afford ;-)

Ditto, only found them recently but I only live round the corner.

Sunken brake rollers, so MOT friendly for lowered cars 8)
